2010 Quilt Show Entry Form  -  2010 Quilt Show Categories  -   2010 Quilt Show Rules

Saturday October 2, 10am-4pm   &    Sunday October 3, 10am-3pm

Fox Valley Lutheran High School

5300 N. Meade St., Appleton, WI 54913 (Directions)

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the 14th Biennial Quilt Show presented by the Darting Needles Quilt Guild of Appleton, Wisconsin.  The theme for this year’s show is “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Quilting”.  As quilters, we all have a unique and very personal style of color choices, pattern selection and quilting, and our show in October will showcase all those different styles and personal liberties.  Liberty can be defined as the ability to be oneself, for as long as you want.  We quilt to show who we are.  Come visit our show to see who we are.

Our show will feature 50-60 patriotic quilts from the travelling exhibit called “God Bless America Touring Quilts”.  These quilts are made by children and adults alike to honor our American Heroes and capture the essence of “How do I love America?  Let me quilt the ways.”   These little quilts have cheered troops in Baghdad and have brought rave reviews from prestigious quilt shows like AQS and HMQS and are crisscrossing the U.S. to blanket America with the Fabric of Hope to unify our torn nation by returning to our founding fathers’ values.  These quilts will be auctioned and all proceeds will go to benefit wounded American Soldiers.

Our guild members have also been working on their version of a cuddle quilt for the challenge titled “The Pursuit of Childhood Dreams…”  Cuddle Quilts is our name for charity quilts which are donated to people in hospitals, children who are ill or are involved in a threatening situation or to people who just need a beautiful hug, even from a stranger.  Our challenge this year pushes us to remember our own childhood dreams and put them into fabric and thread.  After the show, all the quilts in the challenge will be donated to local charities.  There will be some very lucky children in the area.

While you are at our show, take some time to visit our vendor’s mall.  We will be a venue for many shops in the area to show and sell their wares.  We will have a scissors sharpener on site so bring your scissors along to be sharpened while you shop and visit.  Be sure to place your vote for your favorite quilt in our Viewer’s Choice vote.  Lunch will be available in the school cafeteria for a small fee.  Purchase a chance, or several, to win our raffle quilt “Lady Liberty”, a beautiful, paper pieced quilt that could look great on any wall.  Interested in our guild charity work?  Purchase our book, Making Beautiful Charity Quilts, a collection of our simple yet beautiful quilt patterns of our last 5 years of cuddle quilts.   Round out your visit with a stop at the silent auction to bid on a few items to take home (need not be present to win) and take some time to find small gifts for your friends at our Craft Boutique.

Admission is $5 per person, under 12 free.
